The area extends from Provincetown in the northeast to Woods Hole in the southwest, where Plymouth bordered its Northwestern part. The Cape Cod towns of Bourne and Sandwich are located on the mainland side of the canal. Cape Cod Tourism

Lined with beautiful sandy beaches and relaxed ambiance, travelers from nearby states of New York and Boston flock Cape Cod. As a popular summer destination, many go to bask in its pristine beaches under the sun. While you may find some of the popular beaches to be overcrowded, there are a lot of serene nooks up north of Cape Cod.

One can easily reach the tranquil islands of Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard via ferries leaving the southern shore of Cape Cod. There are numerous ways to spend time in these parts of the island like exploring decades old lighthouses, windmills, and sea captain’s homes. Colors of nature decorate Cape Cod in a different season. June paints the town in pink roses while daffodils splash Cape Cod with daffodils. But in the fall, intense color of bright crimson from ripe cranberries adorns Cape Cod. Refined, Trendy and Realistic 3D Bathymetric Wood Charts

Nantucket, a 15-mile long island resides 30 miles south of Cape Cod. Colonists founded Nantucket in 1659 as one of their main settlement areas. During the 18th century, most Quaker missionaries make their home here. The area was one of the main whaling centers in the world from 1740 until 1830 with more than 125 whaling ships docked the area.
The town used to house America’s first female astronomer named Maria Mitchell. Her home and observatory become a pit stop for travelers. It also boasts of abundant local marine life and historic attractions, making it a perfect getaway for families. Aside from its beaches, travelers flock Nantucket for:

One of the unique experiences when visiting Cape Cod is whale watching. Several tour boats leave various harbors to catch a glimpse of the magnificent whales. Boats leave regularly in Provincetown from MacMillan Wharf which heads to the Stellwagen Bank Marine Sanctuary. The best time to do whale watching is from mid-April through the month of October. Well trained naturalists will educate passengers to observed humpback, finback and minke whales. The tour usually lasts for about two and a half hours. Now, for a bit of groove and artistic scene, head on to Provincetown, an area located at the very top of Cape Cod. Many beaches offer perfect place for kayaking, boating, cycling or just walking in its shorelines. This makes Provincetown a very popular tourist destination.

Its history goes back in 1620 when Pilgrims landed in the area before heading to Plymouth. If you want to know more about its rich history, you can go to Provincetown Heritage Museum. The museum exhibits whaling and maritime artifacts, as well as ship models, form the past. It also holds valuable collections of Jackson Pollock and Hans Hoffman. You can also make another side trip at the tallest all-granite structure in the country, the 252-foot Pilgrim Monument.

Martha's Vineyard

Martha’s Vineyard refers to six small towns with its own unique atmosphere and crystal clear beaches. It resides five miles from southern part of Cape Cod accessible by cars and ferries. The area gives out a more laid-back lifestyle than Nantucket. But do not be fooled by this, Martha’s Vineyard house high-end art galleries and antique shops.
