San Diego: History

There’s so much to learn about the history of the world. In fact, people may be confused on where they start. There’ so much information online, and history videos they can watch. The internet is filled with all the unlimited information that one can learn to learn history. In the case of the history of San Diego, such history can be condensed in an article. This article will attempt to do that. It will try to explain some of the important historical events that happened in the place. We can start the history of San Diego by describing its geography. You may also find value in the fact that San Diego is comprised of the area where the San Diego bay used to be. Also, the recorded history about San Diego can be traced to when the Europeans first discovered the place. In fact, it may be accurate to say that San Diego was the first ever area in California that the early European navigators explored. This is where they settled. He first discovered San Diego bay in 1542, but not until 200 years later that the Europeans settled in the land. The establishment of the Europeans were only made possible by the fort centers and missionary delegates that stayed in San Diego in 1769. The rulers of San Diego were first the Spaniards, and then later on were transferred to the Mexicans.

It may also be necessary for you to remember that San Diego only became part of the US in 1848. It was not until that time that San Diego was named as the only county seat of the San Diego County. 

San Diego also started as a small region, until in 1850 CalIfornia granted it the state county status. Because of this, many advances happened in the area. Some of those include the establishment of military facilities that shaped the landscape of the region.

It may also be interesting for you to know that the name San Diego was only given sixty years after its discovery. The name was given by Sebastian Vizcaino when he found the place as he was mapping the areas belonging to Alta California in 1602. Also, the establishment of the settlers could not be possible without religious intervention. The Catholic influence of the explorers in San Diego gained the trust of the people. With such approach, the settlers were able to build a successful colony, as well as a trade route for better expansion.

Salish Sea: History

Much of the history of Salish Sea comes from the ecological viewpoint One of the few important ecological history that Salish Sea has a lot to do with the major water bodies around it, which include the Strait of Georgia, the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Puget Sound. The vast flora and fauna of the land made the Salish Sea as a rich landmark of ecological research in the United States and Canada. 

Another interesting fact that you may not know yet about the Salish Sea is the fact that its boundaries reach from Desolation Sound to the north end of the Strait of Georgia. This gives the Salish Sea a wider scope regarding the lands it’s linked to.

Puget Sound: History

The world we live in today is filled with stories. The rich history of things and events make us appreciate the places we live in. The more we know about the history, the more we appreciate how the country or region has developed, progressed and transformed. We need the history as our guide. We can use the past as a light to what we can do to better the things in the present. In this article, we will try to learn the rich history of Puget Sound to appreciate how it has transformed today. Let’s start. The History It may be necessary to start the history of Puget Sound in 1792. 

It was the great explorer George Vancouver who first discovered Puget Sound and claimed it for the expansion of the empire of Great Britain. He claimed the land on June 4, 1792, and since then helped develop the progress of the region. One of the companions of Vancouver was Lieutenant Peter Puget, which led to the name.

Another historical landmark of Puget Sound was in 1818 when the United States and Great Britain both claimed the Oregon Country. Because of such claims, they agree to what is called a joint occupancy. This agreement led to the resolution of the Oregon Boundary dispute. In 1846, the Oregon Treaty was signed, and Puget Sound was then made part of the regions that were disputed by both parties in 1846. Another interesting historical event in Puget Sound happened during the early European settlement. This happened in Fort Nisqually, which is a fur trade post in HBC aka Hudson’s Bay Company. It was during this time that the Puget Sound Agricultural Company established their businesses. The farms and ranches established helped export food and provisions from and to Fort Nisqually. 

Further, the first American Settlement that happened on Puget sound was the people of Tumwater. This group was founded last 1845 by the group of Americans that came via the Oregon Trail. There were also settlements north of the Columbia River. This group of settlements was led by George Washington Bush to create restrictions among the citizens. It would also be useful to know that in 1853 the Washington Territory in Puget Sound was formed, partly because of the Oregon Territory. The Northern Pacific railroad project in Puget Sound was also one significant part of its history in 1888. When this link was created, many businesses in the area boomed with great improvement.

Oregon Coast: History

This is the modern information age we live in now. This is no different in the case in learning about Oregon Coast.

There’s a lot of rich history in Oregon Coast. In fact, you won’t be able to read everything in one sitting. You can’t learn it all in this article. To start learning about Oregon Coast, we may start at the fact that it’s a region in the U.S. State, Oregon. The coast generally runs across the Pacific Ocean and forms a western border that crosses the entire state. 

The Oregon Coast is also bounded to the region by what is called the Oregon Coast Range. The coast also stretches across about 363 miles of the Columbia River from the north and reaches the state border of California in the south.


The History

It may be necessary to start the history of Oregon Coast with its indigenous peoples. The first settlers of the coast started living in the area about 11,000 to 13,000 years in the past. The main reason that the indigenous tribes settled in the area was that of its rich wildlife. Its natural resources are rich, and wildlife diverse. But, there’s not enough information about these early peoples. The earliest archaeological sites that had been discovered was only about 3,500 years ago. Before that, there wasn’t enough info.

There was not enough information to know about these tribes’ lifestyle. But, there was enough evidence to show that they developed their language and culture.

Another important historical event that happened in Oregon Coast would be European exploration. In Oregon Coast, the early recorded explorations happened in the 18th century. It was the Spanish mariners who first sailed to Oregon Coast, traveling from Mexico. The first explorer who did this was Vasco Nunez de Balboa. He traversed the entire Pacific and reached the shores of the Spanish crown. Another explorer who led the Spanish expedition was Juan Jose Perez Hernandez. Aboard the Santiago in 1774, he explored Oregon Coast and hid his records. Later on, when his records were discovered by other explorers, the credit was taken from him.

Oahu History

There’s so much to know, but so little time. That doesn’t mean that we can’t know the important things. In the case of the history of Oahu, this article will attempt to offer you the essentials. The Basics

Oahu’s name means The Gathering Place, which is said to be the third largest area among the Hawaiian Islands. It is also the home to about two-thirds of the entire population of Hawaii. You may also be interested to know that Honolulu is the capital of Oahu, which is located on the southeast coast of the region. There are small islands that are associated with Oahu, which include the Ford Island and the Kaneohe Bay, which are both off the eastern coast. Also, did you know that there are around 596.7 sq miles in the entire region of Oahu? This makes Oahu the 20th biggest island in the entire United States.

Another interesting trivia that you may not yet know about Oahu is it’s already about 304 years old. It’s also a kingdom that was once ruled by the once great king whose name was Mailikukahi. He was a lawmaker of Oahu. His rule was followed by a series of monarchs who changed the landscape of the land. It may also interest you to know that Kahana was the first of the warlike kings in Oahu. It was in 1783 that Kahekili II conquered Oahu and deposed the rule of the reigning empire. It was then that he made his son, Kalanikupulu, the king of Oahu.

Another great event that happened in Oahu’s rich history was when Kamehameha The Great conquered the mountain regions of Kalanikupule’s soldiers in the Great Battle of Nuuanu. It was after the victory that Kamehameha had founded what is now known as the Kingdom of Hawaii. After this, the conquest of Oahu in 1795 happened.

Later on, around 1845, the Lolani Palace in Oahu was built by the members of the victorious ruling empire.

You may also like to remember that the Oahu seems to be the only Hawaiian island that was discovered by HMS resolution in the January 1778 documents of Captain James Cook’s third Pacific Expedition.

The earliest records of the history of Newport Beach, California began at the time when the 
region was first discovered and explored by European explorers in the late 1500s. Before
that time, Native Americans, including the Tongva and Luiseno, lived in the region for thousands 
of years.

Another important historical event in the region would also be the time when the explorer 
Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo went to Newport, Beach’’s coastline and mapped the land
This happened in 1542. However, it was only 200 years later that Europeans settled in the region. 
It was in 1769, Newport was just a little portion of the land that was granted b Don Jose Antonio Yorba I. 
The region was first under the control of the Spanish empire and then by Mexican control. Later on, Newport Beach was
 redeveloped for ranching, which was led by the James Irvine. The shipping industry in Newport was shaped by 
James McFadden. 
Another historical event that happened in Newport was the day when the Newport Beach was incorporated in the city 

last August 1906. From the Spanish period, the Ranchos in Newport Beach began trading with different merchants 
in the United States, especially in Boston areas. It was also the Ranchos in Newport Beach that traded with the 
English people and merchants in European areas. The trade that had been happening in Newport Beach happened 
around 1823 until the late part of 1848. 
Another event of significant importance in Newport Beach had been happening after the Ranchos were sold. 

Some entrepreneurs moved into in the area. They started companies. Entrepreneurs James Irvine and 
James McFadden explored the regions and started creating jobs and opportunities through their companies.
It may also interest you to know that in the early years, Newport had numerous names. Its rich history is filled with

 name changes, which include the names Bolsa de Gengara and Bolsa de San Joaquin. Did you also know that 
the settlers who arrived in Newport Beach created trade routes with different areas around it? That’s how the tourism
 industry in the region basically started.
In fact, in 1906, Newport Beach started openly itself more publicly. It started to become a tourist destination especially 

after the Pacific Electric Railway built its grounds in the region. The railway ended its route at the Balboa Pavillion. 
Then, in August 1906, Newport Beach became incorporated to become a city.
Another interesting event that happened in Newport Beach was when an Italian gondolier created a Christmas light

 boat parade in 1908. It became to be a pioneer in the series of celebrations in the region. From then on, there was
 now a yearly tradition that has still lasted even to this day.
